National Nonprofit Conservation Organizations

American Rivers: This organization is dedicated to protecting and restoring rivers to benefit humans, fish, and wildlife. Each year the group identifies the ten most endangered rivers in the nation based on the importance of the river and the threats it faces. Since 2000 the Trinity, Rio Grande, Guadalupe, and San Jacinto Rivers have been listed among the most threatened in the United States.

Coastal Conservation Association (CCA): The mission of the CCA is to protect coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the public by focusing on education and by influencing local, state, and national legislation. Created in 1977, the CCA has fifteen coastal state chapters.

Environmental Defense (ED): Founded in 1967, ED researches environmental problems and provides scientific solutions. The organization is dedicated to protecting environmental rights, including clean air, clean water, healthy food, and ecosystems.
